Three Day Itinerary

Day One
We start the day by being picked up from your accommodation in Picton followed by a boat
cruise out into the Marlborough Sounds. Along the way we stop at Motuara Island Bird
Sanctuary, a predator free protected island where we spend time viewing rare native birds
such as the Saddleback.
We then begin our walk from Ships Cove. This is the site that Captain Cook spent much of
his time here while charting the coastline of New Zealand and today retains many of the
natural features that Cook would have seen such as large, majestic native trees, sub
tropical palms and tree ferns.
We then make our way to Endeavour Inlet and our accommodation for the next two nights,
The No Road Inn. So named as there are no roads in and the only way of getting here is by
water or walking. Enjoy a relaxing outdoor spa bath made from a century old wine barrel set
over a stream nestled in the native forest. Dinner that night generally consists of local
seafood such as
New Zealand Crayfish (rock lobster) followed by roast lamb and dessert
all complimented by local Marlborough wines.

Day Two
Today we have the exclusive use of a chartered fishing vessel that will take us out into the
sounds for an action packed day. We go into secret areas where the fish such as Blue Cod
and Gurnard literally jump onto your line. The local skipper is an expert fisherman of the
Marlborough Sounds and will take you to where the fish are biting.
At midday we cruise into a waterfront café for a relaxed gourmet lunch before continuing on
in the afternoon for more fishing. We may even have time on the way back to No Road Inn to
call into a local waterside bar for a well earned beverage or two.

Day Three
After a leisurely breakfast we have the option of exploring the many hidden bays and coves
by
sea kayak or exploring the area on foot. The sea kayaking is lead by a qualified sea
kayak guide and will make sure the day goes smoothly and safely. They will also give a full
commentary about the area such as history, marine life, flora and fauna. This trip is perfect
for first time kayakers through to experienced pros.
Another option is to explore the area on foot. At the back of the lodge are several examples
of
2000 year old native New Zealand trees that are set amongst tall stands of virgin native
forest. Take a picnic lunch up there with you and have it while sitting beneath these giants.
Later that afternoon we take the
mail boat back to Picton where you will be returned to your
accommodation no later than 5.30pm.
