An all inclusive, variety packed luxury adventure staying in the heart of the Marlborough
Sounds.
Accommodation is at Lochmara Lodge Arts and Wildlife Recovery Center.
Three Day Itinerary
Day One
We start the day by being picked up from your accommodation in Picton followed by a boat
cruise out into the Marlborough Sounds. Along the way we stop at Motuara Island Bird
Sanctuary, a predator free protected island where we spend time viewing rare native birds
such as the Saddleback.
We then begin our walk from Ships Cove. This is the site that Captain Cook spent much of
his time here while charting the coastline of New Zealand and today retains many of the
natural features that Cook would have seen such as large, majestic native trees, sub
tropical palms and tree ferns.
We then make our way to Endeavour Inlet before taking the NZ Post mail boat to our
accommodation for the next two nights at Lochmara Lodge.
Day Two
Today we have the option of going fishing. Head out into the sounds for an action packed
day. We go into secret areas where the fish such as Blue Cod and Gurnard literally jump
onto your line. The local skipper is an expert fisherman of the Marlborough Sounds and will
take you to where the fish are biting.
Day Three
After a leisurely breakfast we go via water taxi back to Picton to embark on an indepth wine
tour of the Marlborough region. For the true wine connoisseur, meet the wine makers and
enjoy a sumptuous gourmet lunch matched with local wines at Allen Scott winery. Visit
Johanneshof Cellars, Wither Hills, Cloudy Bay and the boutique Makana Chocolate Factory,
specialising in hand crafted chocolate.
