Watching Dolphins In The Marlborough Sounds
|
Watch Dolphins and Walk The Queen Charlotte Track
Often, while en route to the start of the Queen Charlotte Track on board the water taxi we are able to get up
close and watch Dolphins feeding and playing. If either the skipper or a passenger spots the Dolphins we
will go over to where they are and watch the Dolphins for a while before heading up to the start of the
Queen Charlotte Track to begin our walk.
There are several different species of Dolphins to watch in the Marlborough Sounds. These include the
rare Hectors Dolphin, Common Dolphin and the Bottlenose Dolphin.
Watching Dolphins in the Marlborough Sounds is an excellent nature adventure and the Dolphins seem to
enjoy interacting with us as well. If you would like to watch Dolphins in their natural habitat then the
Marlborough Sounds is the place to do it. We don't see Dolphins every time we go walking on the Queen
Charlotte Track however but a lot of the time we do get to see them as we cruise along. Sometimes we
have even seen Bottlenose Dolphins from the Queen Charlotte Track just a few meters off shore as they
are feeding on small fish.
Natural Encounters offer a range of different walks to suit. From one day guided walks of the Queen
Charlotte Track to four day guided and four and five day unguided walks as well as a 5 Day South Island
Explorer trip we have options to suit you.
